SPCA of Wake County

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Wake County is dedicated to creating a more humane community where every adoptable animal has a home. Each year the SPCA re-homes over 3,500 animals through its innovative adoption programs. The mission of the SPCA is to transform the lives of pets and people through protection, care, education, and adoption.

A Man (and his dog) on a Mission

The SPCA of Wake County has a mission - to transform the lives of pets and people through protection, care, education, and adoption.  That mission relies on donors, and the SPCA of Wake County turned to us to help them rally the support they depend on.  Working closely with the SPCA’s Director of Events and VP of Philanthropy, we crafted an emotional and empowering story that subverts the traditional “dogs in cages” videos we all know too well.  We married research of successful donation campaigns, a keen awareness of related media and thoughtful storytelling to produce something special - a heartfelt story about a boy and his dog. All of the hard work culminated at the SPCA’s annual Fur Ball event where the organization raised over $320,000!  Whoever said working with kids and dogs is tough?  We had a blast.

Who Let the Dogs Out

When we see a cause we care about, we support it.  Part of what made this video possible was the overwhelming community outreach.  All the actors and extras featured volunteered their time.  That includes our star - Jet the dog.  He and his trainer worked alongside our director and DP to help create that doggy-driven magic.

Taking Care:

Whether it’s the research conducted before the script is written, the storyboards we create to ensure a clean and successful production, or the way we achieve special effects shots on set, Jumping Rock cares.

There are a few scenes of peril for Jet in this video, and all those scenes were created using a post-production effect called compositing.  That allowed us to film Jet and Andrew (our human lead) safely.
